The diet for an optimum pregnancy is one advisable for all healthy adults.

The diet required for an optimum pregnancy is a subject which has changed and developed throughout the centuries. It is now widely accepted among health professionals that there is no need to eat for two and that a healthy, balanced diet is important in terms of fetal outcome, maternal health and the physical symptoms associated with the condition (Dorner and Plageman, 1994; Morgan, 1994).
